About the Speaker
Dr. Andy Schreier is an Innovation Scientist in Quantum Communication at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute in Berlin, where he contributes to the QuNET Initiative as well as to the German contributions of EuroQCI: Q-Net-Q and QuantGPlCz on integrating quantum key distribution (QKD) into telecommunication networks including cross-border, pan-European links. He holds a PhD degree in engineering and conducted his postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford's Department of Engineering Science, supported by the EPSRC Quantum Communications Hub. His research spans free-space and fiber-based quantum communications. His broader photonics expertise includes optical wireless communications, liquid crystal beam-steering, and distributed fiber sensing. With over 30 publications and active involvement in international conferences such as ECOC, Dr. Schreier is a recognized contributor to the commercialization of quantum photonic technologies.
