Swabian Instruments, Co-Founder and CEO

About the Speaker

Michael Schlagmüller is the Co‑Founder and CEO of Swabian Instruments, a test‑and‑measurement company pioneering time‑to‑digital converters and time‑correlated single‑photon counting solutions for quantum technologies. He began with a dual study program in electrical engineering at Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University Stuttgart in collaboration with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and subsequently worked at DLR. He then studied physics at the University of Stuttgart and completed a PhD in experimental physics, supported by a Carl Zeiss Foundation fellowship, during which he built an ultracold Rydberg atom experiment from scratch. In 2016, he co‑founded Swabian Instruments as a University of Stuttgart spin‑off to commercialize software and user focused time‑tagging technology developed in the research labs. His work bridges quantum physics and engineering, ensuring that Swabian’s instruments empower researchers and industry worldwide to focus on what truly matters: our joint passion for innovation.
