About the Speaker

Mauro Nisoli is Full Professor of Physics at Politecnico di Milano, where he currently heads the Department of Physics. He leads the Attosecond Research Center at Politecnico and co-directs the international school Frontiers of Attosecond and Ultrafast X-ray Science. His research has made major contributions to the generation of attosecond pulses through high-order harmonic generation in gases, and to their use in probing ultrafast electronic dynamics in atoms, molecules, and condensed matter. By combining advanced ultrafast laser sources with attosecond metrology, his work has helped expand the experimental capabilities of attosecond spectroscopy and its application to complex physical and chemical systems.

He has authored more than 230 peer-reviewed articles in international journals and is regularly invited to deliver lectures, tutorials, and keynote presentations at major international conferences and advanced schools. His research has attracted highly competitive European funding, including an ERC Advanced Grant in 2009 for the ELYCHE project and an ERC Synergy Grant in 2020 for TOMATTO. In 2019, he was elected Fellow of Optica in recognition of his pioneering contributions to attosecond science and technology, with particular emphasis on innovative applications of attosecond pulses to molecular systems.
