About the Speaker

Francesco Canella is a researcher at the Institute for Photonics and Nanotechnologies of the Italian National Research Council (CNR-IFN) in Milan, Italy. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from Politecnico di Milano with a thesis on near-infrared low-noise ytterbium ultrafast lasers for extreme light generation and precision spectroscopy. His research focuses on optical frequency comb spectroscopy, high-power enhancement cavities, and terahertz (THz) pulse generation.

He is involved in various international projects and collaborations in Italy and Europe, including work in collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Quantum Optics, Ruhr University, and the Italian National Telescope Galileo. He is also associated with the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics, with which he collaborates on projects involving high-power lasers and THz generation.
