About the Speaker
Anoopoma is a senior project manager and engineering supervisor at Edmund Optics, Inc. She manages projects developing new optical products from concept to high-volume production. These products enable a variety of applications, from laser material processing to dynamic focus adjustment using liquid lenses, to machine vision for autonomous vehicles. She also directs the Engineering Leadership Program to cultivate top talent with a tailored series of department rotations over a multi-year period. ELP graduates handle strategic challenges for critical needs in the organization including expansion of manufacturing capabilities and advancement of laser optics and machine vision. Founded in 2017, she also chairs the US Women in Optics Steering Committee and co-founded the US PRIDE ERG in 2025. She is also a co-founder and co-chair of the AMPLIFY Steering Committee, whose Vision is to foster diversity of thought through staff diversity at all levels and engagement in an inclusive environment. In 2022, the global AMPLIFY team expanded to include 30+ regional site leaders for the 1,200-employee organization across 14 locations. Anoopoma has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan and a M.S. in Optical Engineering from the University of Arizona. She has presented to college students of SWE, SPIE, and Optica chapters, K-12 students with Edmund Optics Scientific Outreach, WiSTEE attendees at Optica’s Headquarters in Washington D.C., and as a SPIE visiting lecturer at the College of Optics and Photonics, UCF.
