About the Speaker

Lauriane Karlen performed her study in Physics at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. She joined CSEM in 2017, where she contributed to the development of a breadboard of the Laser Head for the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) mission. She subsequently led the development of advanced optical metrology systems to characterize and validate the laser's demanding performance requirements. Through these activities, she contributed to advancing the state of the art in optical frequency combs, ultra-stable lasers, optical cavities, precision metrology, and space-qualified photonic technologies. Since 2024, she has been working on the development of an ultra-stable optical cavity for the Next Generation Gravity Mission (NGGM), in collaboration with the Space Technology Institute (STI) and the National Physical Laboratory (NPL). As a system engineer, her work focuses on advancing high-performance optical systems and metrology solutions for future space applications.
