About the Speaker
Dr. Hans Dieter Tholl is an independent Innovation, Research, and Technology Advisory Partner (IRTAP), bringing over 30 years of experience in defense photonics, electro-optical systems, and advanced sensing technologies. Previously, he spent more than three decades at Diehl Defence, where he led the Competence Centre for Electro-Optics and Electro-Mechanics, overseeing developments in optronics, laser technologies, and optical and RF sensor integration for advanced missile guidance systems.
His expertise encompasses active and passive imaging, laser-based systems, optical sensing, and emerging photonic technologies for military applications. He has extensive experience in research and technology management, supporting the development and integration of advanced optical solutions for defense and aerospace systems.
Hans holds a Ph.D. in Optical Physics and a Diploma in Physics from RWTH Aachen University. He has also held academic and teaching positions at the University of Nevada, RWTH Aachen, and other institutions.
