Stefan Traeger

JENOPTIK, former President & CEO

About the Speaker

Stefan Traeger served as President and CEO of JENOPTIK AG for nearly nine years, from 2017 until his departure in early 2026. During his tenure, he led a significant strategic transformation of the company, divesting non-photonics businesses to sharpen its focus on optics and photonics technologies. He oversaw several major acquisitions, including TRIOPTICS in 2020 and Berliner Glas Medical and SwissOptic in 2021, and authorized the largest single investment in the company's recent history, a new micro-optics manufacturing facility in Dresden. Under his leadership, JENOPTIK's revenue grew from approximately 685 million euros to more than 1.1 billion euros, while EBITDA margins improved from around 14 percent to roughly 20 percent. Traeger, who led the company from his hometown of Jena, was credited by JENOPTIK's Supervisory Board with developing the business into a profitably growing, increasingly focused photonics group before stepping down by mutual agreement, handing over what he described as a healthy, strong company.
