About the Speaker
Stefan Hengesbach is Chief Executive Officer of QuiX Quantum, a Netherlands-based company developing photonic quantum computing and quantum-secured communication systems. He was appointed CEO in May 2022, succeeding founder Hans van den Vlekkert, who remained involved with the company as a director and shareholder. Hengesbach brings more than a decade of experience in photonics and quantum optics, combining deep technical expertise with executive leadership. Before joining QuiX Quantum, he served as Managing Director of Q.ANT, a quantum technology startup based in Stuttgart, Germany. He holds a doctoral degree in engineering from RWTH Aachen University, where his dissertation was recognized with the Borchers Badge, and his research has received the Hugo-Geiger Prize from the Fraunhofer Society and the WLT Prize from the Scientific Society for Laser Technology. Under his leadership, QuiX Quantum has expanded its position as one of the few companies generating real commercial revenue from second-generation photonic quantum processors and quantum photonic chips.
