Lace Lithography, Co-founder & CEO

About the Speaker

Bodil Holst is Co-founder and CEO of Lace Lithography, a Norwegian company commercializing a novel mask-based lithography technology that uses molecular beams instead of light, aiming to extend Moore's Law beyond current lithography limits. She founded the company in 2023 with her former PhD student, Adria Salvador Palau, building on research from her own laboratory. Holst studied physics and mathematics at the University of Copenhagen, earned her PhD from the University of Cambridge in 1997, and completed postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Fluid Dynamics and Graz University of Technology. Since 2007 she has held a professorship at the University of Bergen, where her research spans nanoscale imaging, two-dimensional material characterization, and atom-beam lithography. She belongs to the Norwegian Academies of Science and Letters and of Technological Sciences, chaired the Kavli Prize Committee in Nanoscience from 2019 to 2024, and received Norway's Research Council Innovation Award in 2025.
