Dr. Heike Riel is a distinguished IBM Fellow with a remarkable career in technology and innovation. Currently serving as the Head of Science & Technology and leading IBM Research Quantum Europe/Africa, she has spent over 14 years at IBM Research. Dr. Riel's expertise extends to various leadership roles, including Executive Director of IBM Research Frontiers Institute and Director of IoT Technology & Solutions. Her work involves pioneering research in computing, data, and the intersection of technology and society. With a strong academic foundation, including a Ph.D. in Physics, her career exemplifies a commitment to pushing the boundaries of science and technology while building cognitive IoT solutions.
