About the Speaker
Tad Hofmeister is an Optical Hardware Engineer on the Platforms Infrastructure Engineering (PIE) Optics team at Google since 2024, where he focuses on networking infrastructure for AI systems. He has over 13 years of experience in Google’s Global Networking group, where he worked on backbone networks and DWDM technologies. Before joining Google, Tad served as an architect and system engineer for several networking companies, including Ciena, Matisse Networks, OpVista, and Applied Signal Technology. Dr. Hofmeister holds MS and Ph.D. degrees in EE from Stanford University and BS degrees from Columbia University and Bates College.
