About the Speaker
Hugo is a full professor at the Faculty of Engineering at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where he chairs the Applied Physics and Photonics Department and leads the Brussels Photonics research team (B-PHOT), a group of more than 60 scientists, engineers, and technical staff. His work spans a wide range of fundamental and applied research in micro-photonics and micro-optics. He is internationally recognized for contributions in optical interconnects, micro-optics fabrication, nonlinear optics, and optical sensing.
He has authored more than 800 scientific publications, contributed to numerous conference proceedings and book chapters, and is co-inventor of 19 patents. Hugo brings extensive expertise in optical design, metrology, and the development of photonic technologies for industrial applications.
