Dr. Daniel Pérez López (MSc, PhD) is a leading figure in programmable photonics, specializing in software-defined photonic integrated circuits that enable flexible, multifunctional optical systems. He and his team pioneered the concept and led the world’s first commercial development of optical Field-Programmable Photonic processors—the photonic counterpart to electronic FPGAs. In 2019, he founded iPronics Programmable Photonics, which launched the first optical circuit switch combining low latency, low cost, and low power consumption to accelerate the optical transformation of AI cluster communications and future-proof data center infrastructure.
