About the Speaker
Dr. Andrew Chilton has been active in the field of optics for nearly 15 years. Since 2023, he has been serving as a Principal Optical Systems Engineer with Tesat Government, where he has provided expertise in laser communications systems for satellite applications, including, most recently, GPSIII. Dr. Chilton also performs link budgeting analysis, system design, and software development on a variety of other programs. Dr. Chilton has previously been employed as an optical engineer at L3Harris, where he worked on terrestrial optical communications systems, fiber device design, and coherent DSP. He received his Ph. D. in Physics from the University of Florida in 2019, having worked on the optical design of the LISA program under Dr. Guido Mueller (now the director of the Albert-Einstein-Institute)
