About the Speaker
Tom Darras is the CEO and co-founder of Welinq, a quantum technology company focused on interconnecting quantum processors using cold-atom quantum memories. He holds a Master’s degree in Physics from ESPCI Paris and a Master’s degree in Quantum Physics from the École Normale Supérieure. Tom conducted his Ph.D. research at the Laboratoire Kastler Brossel in Paris under Prof. Julien Laurat, where he worked on quantum networks and demonstrated the world’s first quantum teleportation protocols using hybrid entanglement to interconnect quantum devices in heterogeneous architectures. In January 2022, Tom co-founded Welinq with Julien Laurat, Eleni Diamanti, and Jean Lautier-Gaud to scale up quantum computing by interconnecting quantum processors. Under his leadership, Welinq has achieved significant milestones, including being an EIC Transition and EIC Accelerator winner in 2024, winning the prestigious Hello Tomorrow Global Challenge in 2023 and the Grand-Prix of the i-Lab Innovation contest in 2022.
