About the Speaker
Dr. Michael Mei is co-founder and Managing Director of Menlo Systems GmbH. He received his Master’s in Science from the University of Massachusetts, USA, and his Diploma from the University of Konstanz, Germany. After a one-year research stay at ETH Zurich he joined the group of Prof. Theodor Hänsch at Ludwig-Maximilians University and the Max-Planck-Institute of Quantum Optics in Munich for his PhD, focusing on atom interferometry and precision measurements. In 2001 he founded Menlo Systems together with Dr. Ronald Holzwarth and Prof. Hänsch, with the vision to commercialize optical frequency comb technology. Menlo has since grown to over 215 employees, with locations in Germany, USA, China, and Japan. He additionally serves as the Speaker of the Advisory Board of terraplasma GmbH, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Quantum Life Long Learning project of the Munich universities.
