About the Speaker
Maddy completed her PhD at the University of Bristol in functional nanomaterials. Post-PhD Maddy jumped into the world of startups, supporting science researchers with commercialisation and innovation training, which grew into working alongside academic founders to build deep tech ventures as COO of Spin Up Science. While at Spin Up, the team developed a software platform to help organise and keep track of all the nuggets of detail acquired while building ventures and Maddy co-founded Protolyst to launch that software into the wider market. After 3 years leading Protolyst, Maddy joined Empirical Ventures as an Investment Associate in early 2024.
