Ephos, Co-founder & Head of Photonics

About the Speaker

Giacomo Corrielli received the Laurea Degree in Physics Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in 2011 and the Ph.D. degree in Physics from the Politecnico di Milano in 2015. Since 2018 he is Staff Researcher at the Institute for Photonics and Nanotechnology (IFN) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR), where he became Senior Researcher in 2023. In his research activity, Dr. Corrielli specialised in integrated quantum photonics components manufactured vie ultrast laser waveguide writing, ranging from active photonic processors for qubit manipulation, integrated quantum memories, integrated sources of quantum light and miniaturized cells of atomic vapours. He is author of more than 40 publications on major international journals and holds 2 patents in the field of optics and photonics technologies. Dr. Corrielli participated to several European projects in the field of quantum technologies, and he is currently coordinating two national research projects about the development of integrated quantum memories and the laser manipulation of the magnetic properties of crystals. He i salso curently involved in the development of the space mission QUICK3 supported by the German Space Agency (DLR).

In 2022 he cofounded the company Ephos to design and manufacture glass-based integrated photonic circuits that power the most advanced quantum computing, communications, and sensing devices. He is currently the Head of Photonics of the company.
