About the Speaker

Robert McKenna is a Photonic Integrated Circuit Design Engineer with Pilot Photonics and has been in this position since August 2022. He graduated with PhD in Physics from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, in 2022. During his PhD Robert undertook research under the supervision of Professor John Donegan in the field of semiconductor photonics with a focus on athermalisation in semiconductor lasers. Prior to this Robert received a B.A. degree in Nanoscience, Physics, and Chemistry of Advanced Materials from Trinity College Dublin in 2016. Robert currently lives in Munich, Germany. His interests include reading, running, skiing, and surfing.
