World-renowned artist studio NONOTAK at ARTECHOUSE for International Day of Light
ARTECHOUSE partners with The Optical Society for International Day of Light Exhibit
WASHINGTON D.C – The Optical Society (OSA) in partnership with ARTECHOUSE, The American Physical Society (APS), and The American Institute of Physics (AIP)'s Venture Partnership Fund has planned an innovative visual experience that celebrates the International Day of Light 2018. NONOTAK, a world-renowned artist studio, will debut their first U.S solo art exhibition. A private viewing will be held on 16 May 2018 and will become open to the public the following day, 17 May through 30 June 2018.
The International Day of Light provides an enduring follow-up to the International Year of Light in raising the profile of science and technology, stimulating education, and improving the quality of life worldwide. An official inauguration ceremony will take place 16 May 2018 at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, involving presentations from Nobel laureates and other scientists and industry leaders.

This exciting hands on exhibition will feature:
- Main Gallery - BASELINE: Merging of video projection with light fixtures combined with sound designed to take visitors to a geometric landscape made real and alive. The installation invites the visitors to contemplate their relationship to the light that surrounds them on a daily basis.
- Gallery One - OCEAN: A movement of light that uses reflection to simulate the ocean. The installation invites visitors to step into a mesmerizing undulation of light filling the space.
- Gallery 2 - COMA: Moving bright lights on pedestals that juxtapose the diffused light emitting from the structures and reflecting on the walls. This installation is an active exploration of light.
- ZERO POINT ONE: The thinnest light source that materializes light as a volume appears to float in space. This hypnotic installation geometrically explores the X and Y axes.

About NONOTAK
NONOTAK also known as NONOTAK Studio is the collaborative installation and performance project founded by illustrator Noemi Schipfer and architect & musician Takami Nakamoto. It was conceived in 2011 with a commission from architect Bigoni-Mortemard to create a mural in the lobby of a public housing building in Paris. NONOTAK studios work with light, space, and sound to create performance pieces that are ethereal, immersive and dreamlike environments. NONOTAK are also known for using custom built technology in many of their pieces as well as using conventional technology in unconventional ways to generate a certain desired effect. NONOTAK’s acclaimed installation piece Daydream V2 was nominated for the Prix Cube in 2013 and have been awarded the Art Directors Club of New York (ADC) Young Guns award in 2016.
