Volunteer Opportunities
About
Volunteer Opportunities
The Optica community of scientists, engineers, students and entrepreneurs fuel discoveries and shape real-life applications in the science of light. But that is just part of the story. Optica volunteers help build the society and advance the optics and photonics community.
Get Involved, Give Back & Volunteer
Volunteers can serve as reviewers for journals, help organize meetings and conferences, engage with Technical Groups and much more. From small, discrete tasks to long-term dedicated roles, find the opportunity that is right for you and learn how you can contribute your time and expertise.
Governance
Optica leadership focus on strategies, programs and activities that support the organization’s short- and long-term goals. Committee and council members are nominated and require approval by the Optica Board of Directors. To see our current governance volunteers and to learn more about their roles, visit Optica Governance.
Ad Hoc Projects
Occasionally ad hoc projects offer opportunities for involvement on a short-term basis. If you would like to volunteer for one of these assignments, please send a brief message with your areas of interest and expertise to Martha Paterson, Senior Director, Governance and Special Programs, at mpaterson@optica.org.
