Alcyon Photonics Releases First Photonic IP Library for Tower Semiconductor Customers

Madrid, Spain — March 3rd, 2026 — Alcyon Photonics today announced the availability of its first photonic intellectual property (IP) library qualified for customers of Tower Semiconductor, enabling high-performance, robust photonic designs that can be efficiently scaled from development to manufacturing.

As an IP provider within Tower Semiconductor’s ecosystem, Alcyon Photonics has developed a fabrication-ready library of photonic circuit building blocks designed to complement Tower Semiconductor’s existing silicon photonics PDK. The library provides Tower Semiconductor customers with validated photonic IP that improves design predictability, accelerates development cycles, and supports reliable transition into volume production.

The initial release focuses on O-band and C+L -band photonic devices targeting datacom and telecom applications. The library includes proven architectures engineered for performance, robustness, and manufacturability, providing customers address key challenges related to yield, repeatability, and scaling products.

“We are pleased to see Alcyon Photonics expanding the Tower Semiconductor silicon photonics ecosystem with a robust and well-characterized IP library,” said Samir Chaudhry, Vice President of Customer Design Enablement and Reliability at Tower Semiconductor. “By providing fabrication-ready photonic IP that integrates seamlessly with our PDK, Alcyon enables our customers to accelerate development while maintaining the performance, yield, and reliability needed for high-volume manufacturing.”

Reflecting on the broader collaboration, Alcyon highlighted the strategic significance of this release for the photonics ecosystem.

From a technology perspective, the library embodies Alcyon’s IP-driven approach to photonic integration.

“This library reflects our focus on robust architectures, tight alignment with foundry processes, and seamless integration with industry-standard EDA workflows,” said Enrique Frutos, CTO of Alcyon Photonics. “Our goal is to enable Tower Semiconductor customers focus on system-level innovation while relying on predictable, production-ready photonic building blocks.”

The Alcyon Photonics IP library is currently supported within Luceda, with additional commercial EDA integrations and extended functionality planned for future releases. This EDA-aligned approach ensures smooth adoption within established design flows used by Tower Semiconductor customers.

The library includes a range of parametric cells (PCells) targeting the data communication market, such as multimode interferometers (MMIs), Mach–Zehnder interferometers (MZIs), multiplexers, CWDM4 components, polarization splitter-rotators (PSRs), and hybrid 90-degree signal devices. Several components are extensively documented, including experimental data and deviation analysis, available through the Tower Semiconductor customer portal.

By combining validated photonic IP with close alignment to foundry processes and design tools, Alcyon Photonics enables Tower Semiconductor customers to focus on system differentiation while relying on manufacturable, scalable photonic building blocks.
