About the Speaker
Jeremy Witzens received the Engineering Diploma from Ecole Polytechnique in 2000 (France) and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology in 2001 and 2005. From 2006 to 2009, he was a Sr. Staff Engineer at Luxtera Inc., a pioneering company in the commercialization of Silicon Photonics. Since 2011, he is a Full Professor at RWTH Aachen University. In 2017, he co-founded aiXscale Photonics GmbH and served as its CEO until October 2025. Since November 2025, he serves as Associate Vice-President for Optical Connectivity at Astera Labs, following the successful acquisition of aiXscale Photonics.
