About the Speaker
David Mohring is the Metrology Coordinator at OptiPro Systems, with over 35 years of experience in CNC machine design and optical fabrication development for the precision optics industry. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology. David has designed precision automated manufacturing systems and supports the development of advanced fabrication and inspection techniques, including OptiPro’s patented advanced optical polishing platform (UFF UltraForm Finisher). In addition, he designed and implemented multi-axis metrology systems such as contact and non-contact profilometers and coordinate measurement machines. As an adjunct professor David teaches the Advanced Optical Fabrication course for Monroe Community College and provides on-site customer training and is a certified Zeiss Calypso Multi-Sensor CMM trainer. Authored winning SBIR proposals for NASA and NAVAIR projects, to advance the technologies required for the precision manufacturing of brittle materials. Serving on the board of the American Precision Optics Manufacturing Association (APOMA) he promotes optical fabrication in the USA.
