Focusing On Optics
Pushing the Frontiers of Laser Science
CLEO is right around the corner. The renowned conference for laser science and photonics applications will feature a full lineup of technical presentations. OSA Fellow Margaret Murnane, STROBE and JILA, University of Colorado, Boulder, USA, will deliver a plenary address titled “Harnessing Attosecond Quantum Technologies.” Murnane recently spoke with OPN about her upcoming talk and provided insights into some of the “exquisite quantum physics” enabling high-harmonic light sources.

Last year, leading up to the 60th anniversary of the laser, OPN published a selection of interviews with OSA Fellows working in laser technology. Interviewees in this series include 2021 OSA President Connie Chang-Hasnain, 2020 Frederic Ives Medal/Jarus W. Quinn Prize recipient Ursula Keller and cofounder and CTO of Toptica Photonics Wilhelm Kaenders.
