The OSA Fellow Lecturer Program has been sending Fellows to developing nations to help foster optics programs for over a decade. 

Application Deadline: 15 February 2019

OSA is accepting applications for co-sponsorship of meetings taking place between May and August 2019. The financial support is not intended to fully underwrite a meeting and should be used for student prizes or to directly support student, invited speaker and/or attendee participation. Priority is given to meetings held in developing or underrepresented countries or focused on emerging topics of interest to the OSA community. 

OFC is a five-day technical conference that features peer-reviewed presentations and more than 120 invited speakers. Additional programming will include these technical talks in the OSA Member Lounge. Invite a colleague and register today!

The organizers of the 2019 OSA Advanced Photonics Congress want to ensure a meeting experience that is relevant, current and of professional interest to attendees. To assist in developing the technical program, organizers are soliciting feedback for topics to be considered for congress symposia. Selected topics will be presented at the next congress, which will be held 29 July - 1 August in Burlingame, California, USA.

Kurt Busch Becomes New Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Optical Society of America B
OSA Publishing welcomes Kurt Busch as the new Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the Optical Society of America B (JOSA B). Busch is a professor in the Department of Physics at the Humboldt University of Berlin and is Head of the Theoretical Optics & Photonics Research Group. An OSA Fellow, Busch has served as a Topical Editor for JOSA B and became Deputy Editor in 2017. Busch takes over the role of Editor-in-Chief from Grover Swartzlander, who served from 2013 - 2018.

James Leger Assumes New Role of Optics Express Editor-in-Chief
OSA Publishing is pleased to welcome James Leger as the new Editor-in-Chief of Optics Express (OpEx). Leger is a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Minnesota, where he holds the Cymer Professorship for Advanced Optical Systems, Metrology, and Lasers, and the Taylor Distinguished Professorship. Leger is an OSA Fellow and has been very active within OSA governance, including serving on the Board of Directors from 2003 - 2005. For nearly 15 years, he has been a member of the OpEx Editorial Board as an Associate, Deputy, and Senior Deputy Editor. Prior to his work with OpEx, he also served as a Topical Editor for Applied Optics. Leger takes over the Editor-in-Chief position from Andrew M. Weiner, who led the journal from 2013 - 2018.
