OSA Incubator: Controlled Light Propagation through Complex Media

OSA Incubator MeetingsThe first OSA Incubator of 2014, Controlled Light Propagation through Complex Media, was another success! Recognizing recent breakthroughs in the field, this Incubator was designed to discuss the serious efforts to solve longstanding optical challenges such as imaging deep within dense neural tissue and controlling beam propagation through turbulent horizontal paths. The Incubator’s nearly 50 attendees from academia, industry and government agencies came together to discuss techniques, components, challenges and opportunities associated with this emerging field.

This meeting was put together by four outstanding hosts: Thomas Bifano and Jerome Mertz from Boston University, Sylvain Gigan from the Institut Langevin in France and Allard Mosk from University of Twente, Netherlands. It also received financial support from the BU Photonics Center, Thorlabs and Boston Micromachines Corporation. For the first time, this Incubator was featured on the OSA blog.
