Navigating Project Leadership
About the Speaker

Mariia Stepanova received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Physics from the Leibniz University of Hanover, Germany. The insights she gained in the atomic physics program during her studies kindled a keen interest in quantum optics.

Fascinated by the topic of atomic clocks, she completed her master's thesis at the National Metrology Institute of Germany, PTB, where she worked on an experiment with an Aluminum ion clock. In 2018, she joined the Institute of Quantum Optics, Leibniz University of Hanover, where she worked as a scientific researcher on Zeeman slowing of diatomic molecules CaF.

In the summer of 2023, she joined Menlo Systems GmbH, a leading supplier and developer of laser systems for quantum technologies and precision metrology, based in Munich, Germany. She took on the role of a project leader within the group of Future and Emerging Technologies at the Research and Development department and is currently managing two European Union projects on optical atomic clocks.
