High capacity and intelligent optical transmission and networking for 5G/B5G

This webinar will introduce the recent progress and future trend of optical transmission and networking technologies to support the deployment of 5G and B5G. Advanced design of coherent optical transmission systems and AI-driven elastic optical networks will be discussed. Application of coherent technology for 5G fronthaul will also be described. 8+ years of research experience in coherent optical communications. 4+ year of industrial R&D experience in next generation optical transports.

About Our Speaker: Qunbi Zhuge, Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Qunbi ZhugeQunbi Zhuge received the B.S. degree in 2009, from Zhejiang University, China, and the M.E. and Ph.D. degree from McGill University, Canada, in 2012 and 2015, respectively. He joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University as an Associate Professor in 2018. He is also an Adjunct Professor at McGill University since 2014. From 2014 to 2018, he worked at Ciena Corporation in Canada on the development of next generation coherent transmission systems. He has published more than 130 journal and conference papers, and filed 10 US patent applications. He serves as Associate Editor for Optics Express, IEEE Access and Electronics Letters, a subcommittee chair for OFC 2019, and a committee member for OFC 2016~2018. He also serves as chairs and committee members for various other conferences. He is the Chair of OSA Optical Communications Group. He is a recipient of 2016 OSA Outstanding Reviewer Recognition, 2013 IEEE Photonics Society Graduate Student Fellowship, and so forth. His current research interests include optical transmission systems, data center interconnects, fiber channel modeling, elastic optical network, and physical layer intelligence.
