I’ve known Prof. Bao while working under her guidance as a PhD candidate. She was and still is one of the few world experts in Brillouin sensors. Along with her expertise, she has always been a great person, a force to work with, prompt to receive and foster new ideas. I felt guided but never directed. Her strength as a renowned scientist is imbedded in her capacity to connect her expertise to the real world: her works have played a significant role in making optics become a reality in industry.
