International Commission for Optics Programs

Support for International Commission for Optics Programs

The International Commission for Optics (ICO) was created in 1947. It is an Affiliated Commission of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (IUPAP) and has been a Scientific Associate of the International Council for Science (ICSU) since 2005. Optica joined the ICO as an Organizational Member in 1999. The objective of the ICO is to contribute on an international basis to the progress and diffusion of knowledge in the field of optics.

ICO activities include:

  • Educational and scientific events
  • Traveling lecturers
  • Publications and reports
  • Awards and honors

Through a fiscal sponsorship agreement with the Optica Foundation, your charitable donations can now be made in support of ICO activities.

Important Note: Donations to support International Commission for Optics (ICO) programs are made to the Optica Foundation and designated to the "International Programming Fund," which supports international educational, professional development and recognition programs in the field of optics. To facilitate this type of programming, the foundation has established a fiscal sponsorship agreement with the ICO. Under this agreement, the foundation retains full discretion and control over the use of the funds donated to the "International Programming Fund." The ICO is required to submit grant applications and program reports detailing the use of all support provided through this fund.
