Abubakar Adamu is a Manufacturing Engineer at Lumenisity Limited, UK. Born in Nigeria, he received his bachelor's degree in Engineering Physics from Gaziantep University, Turkey and his MSc from Bilkent University in Material Science and Nanotechnology, where he researched on Artificial Nose - using photonic Bragg fibres. In 2020, he received his PhD, from the Technical University of Denmark. His PhD research areas include hollow-core fibres, Supercontinuum lasers, ultrafast nonlinear optics and fabrication of hybrid multimaterial fibres.

Abubakar is the winner of multiple awards, including Outstanding student paper award 2019 SPIE Photonics West, California USA. And Best research poster award by Danish Optical Society. He has authored more than 13 peer-reviewed journals and 20 conference papers. He served as vice president of DTULys.

He was a 2021 Optica Ambassador.
