indie Tutorial: Heterodyne Laser Mixing with Sub-Hz Beatnote Stability
21 May 2026 10:00 - 11:00
We present a compact opto-electronic system that generates highly stable RF signals from optical sources using two free-running ultra-narrow linewidth lasers and a 50/50 coupler. The beatnote inherits the intrinsic stability of the lasers, enabling <5 MHz digital tuning and sub-MHz analog precision.
After successful demonstrations at SPIE Photonics West, OFC, and SPIE Defense + Security 2026, the system will be run live in the webinar, where attendees can see its beatnote stability as the laser temperature is swept across a >30 °C range.

Marie-Pier Lord
Indie, Business Development Manager
Marie‑Pier completed a PhD in Physics in 2024, with her doctoral research focused on visible fiber lasers. During her academic work, she contributed to the development of advanced laser sources, including ultrafast fiber laser systems operating in the visible spectrum. She joined indie in 2023 as part of the R&D team, working on ultra‑low‑noise instrumentation, notably within the LXM product line. Building on her strong technical background, she later transitioned into a commercial role. Marie‑Pier is currently a Business Development Manager, responsible for European accounts. In this role, she bridges technical expertise and customer needs to support the deployment of high‑performance photonic solutions.
