The rapid growth of integrated microwave photonic (MWP) technologies has impacted various fields, including communications and signal processing. This webinar hosted by the Integrated Photonics Technical Group aims to provide an overview of the state-of-the-art developments in integrated MWP technologies.

The integration of microwave and optical domains offers unique advantages, including wide bandwidth and enhanced signal processing capabilities. David Marpung’s talk will focus on three aspects: material platforms for integrated MWP, innovative approaches to achieve high-performance microwave photonics, and the possibility of harnessing on-chip nonlinearities for enhanced functionalities.

What You Will Learn:
• Provide an overview of the state-of-the-art developments in integrated MWP technologies
• Discuss material platforms for integrated MWP, innovative approaches to achieve high-performance microwave photonics, and possibility to harness on-chip nonlinearities for enhanced functionalities.

Who Should Attend:
• Material will be appropriate for various levels of expertise
• Webinar will not assume any specialist knowledge and will be accessible to a broad audience

About the Presenter: David Marpaung from The University of Twente

David Marpaung is a full professor leading the Nonlinear Nanophotonics group at the University of Twente, the Netherlands. He is working on photonic integration in silicon nitride, nonlinear photonics, laser and frequency combs, optomechanics, and microwave photonics, He is a fellow of Optica (formerly OSA) and a recipient of the 2021 ERC Consolidator grant on the topic of 3D photonic circuits for Brillouin scattering.
