Customs Information for Entry to Whistler, Canada

Make sure to carry proper identification and documents while traveling to the congress. Optica strongly encourages you to apply for any additional documentation (i.e., visa or eTA) no later than 6 months before the event, as the application process can be lengthy.

Please consult the IRCC eligibility tool to verify whether you need a visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to enter Canada.

How to apply

• Answer a few questions using the official Come to Canada tool to find out what you need.
• If you need an eTA, complete the online application right away using a valid passport, email address and credit card. Most approvals arrive within minutes.
• If you need a Visitor Visa (Temporary Resident Visa), create an account and apply online through the IRCC portal, or apply on paper if required.
• Gather your supporting documents, including proof of funds and a travel itinerary.
• Attend a biometrics appointment if required, at a Visa Application Centre.
• Submit your application and await confirmation before booking non-refundable travel.
