Ivy Krystal Jones, PhD, is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Optical Engineering in the Department of Engineering within the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia, USA.  Prior to this, Dr. Jones served as a Research Assistant Professor at Hampton University in the School of Engineering, Architecture, and Aviation, funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) Partnerships for Research and Education in Materials (PREM) program.  She also worked as a Medical Physics Postdoctoral Fellow at Froedtert Hospital/Medical College of Wisconsin, creating high-quality, customized training data for deep-learning auto-segmentation of organs at risk (OAR) using contoured CT and MR images.  She completed a Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Marquette University in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, working in the Shock Physics Laboratory on dynamic behavior material analysis from 2018-2019, and was a 2018 OSA Ambassador.  She has also held academic positions, including full-time adjunct faculty positions as professor, instructor, and lecturer at Wilbur Wright College, Olive-Harvey College, Harry S. Truman College, the Blitstein Institute for Women, and Chicago State University, teaching general chemistry, physical science, and engineering physics from 2017- 2018.  In addition, Dr. Jones completed a Postdoctoral Research Staff Member (I & II) position(s) in the Materials Science & Physics Division specifically in the Sensor Materials and Measurement group at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory from 2016-2017; where her postdoctoral research involved working on synthetic procedures and processing methods to yield high-performance transparent ceramics for current scintillator application projects directly related to medical imaging where she received a US Patent in Nov. 2020.
