Come join Patrick Salter, Chief Scientist at Opsydia, for a discusison on material proccessing with ultrashort pulse lasers.

Material processing with ultrashort pulse lasers is rapidly expanding within precision manufacture for semiconductor applications. It also offers many opportunities for three-dimensional fabrication inside transparent materials. Adaptive optical elements control the phase of the laser beam to maintain accurate processing within the entire 3D volume. We will show how this can be applied to write optical waveguides in glass without post-processing, for photonic interconnects in datacentres.
