Optica Online Industry Meeting: Optical Fiber Sensing

28 February 2023 10:00 - 12:00

Eastern Time (US & Canada) (UTC -05:00)

Optical fiber sensors turn what can be a problem–such as a sensitivity to temperature, motion or pressure–into a feature. Fiber sensors have been in commercial use for many years, particularly for oil and gas exploration, with opportunities in perimeter security, smart structures, and more. Exotic fiber types, such as hollow fibers or multiresonant fiber gratings, allow for new opportunities in sensing. This meeting will explore some new applications and the requirements on optics and photonics.
