Awards & Distinctions

Daniel M Neumark earned his B.A. and M.A. from Harvard University and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. He did postdoctoral research at JILA at the University of Colorado from 1984 to 1986. He joined the University of California, Berkeley in 1986, where he still works today. He has held, since 1988, a position at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. During his time at Berkeley, he has held a number of positions, including Chair of the Department of Chemistry from 2010 to 2014, in addition to serving on the Advisory and Editorial Boards for his professional societies.

He has received many honors for his work, including: the Office of Naval Research Young Investigator Award, an Alfred P. Sloan Fellowship, ACL Nobel Laureate Signature Award, OSA’s William F. Meggers Award, Irving Langmuir Award in Chemical Physics, the Dudley R. Herschbach Medal, the Herbert P. Broida Prize, the Chemical Dynamics Award, the Bourke Award, and the Peter Debye Award in Physical Chemistry. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, AAAS, and APS.
