Gavrielle Untracht

Dr. Gavrielle Untracht is a postdoctoral researcher in the Biophotonic Imaging Group at the Technical University of Denmark. She received a B.S. in Optical Engineering and an M.S. in Applied Physics from Cornell University. She then obtained a Ph.D. in Biomedical Optics from the University of Western Australia. Her research focuses on exploring light tissue interactions to improve optical imaging towards the development of translational imaging tools. She is driven by the opportunity to make a difference by revolutionizing medical diagnostics.

In addition to research, Gavrielle is passionate about teaching, outreach, and science communication. She has been an active member of Optica student chapters since 2017 and served 3 years as a chapter president. During this time, she contributed to the development of several outreach programs which were delivered to over 300 students across various events. She co-organized a student conference with Optica chapter members from the University of Kent which was attended by more than 50 people. She has won multiple awards for public engagement, including an opportunity to speak at the Royal Institution in London, a renowned promoter of science education.
