Planned Giving

Gifts made through your will or estate, or by naming Optica Foundation as a beneficiary for an account, is a meaningful way for you to make a significant impact to further Optica Foundation’s mission. If you are considering naming Optica Foundation as a beneficiary in your estate or if you have any questions for us, please contact Cara Green.

Here are some common ways to include Optica Foundation in your planning. 

1. Bequests
   This is one of the easiest gifts to make. With the help of an advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift be made to Optica Foundation as part of your estate plan.  The following language may help you and your attorney when drawing up a bequest that meets your needs:

   Sample language to use in your will or trust
   I give to Optica Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation presently located at 2010 Massachusetts Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20036 ______ (indicate amount or percentage of the estate). This gift should be used for _____(indicate purpose) for as long as Optica Foundation determines, in its sole discretion, that the need exists. If Optica Foundation determines that the need does not or no longer exists or that it is not possible or prudent to administer my gift as originally intended, then Optica Foundation may, in its sole discretion, direct the use of my gift for a purpose as closely related as possible to the above.

2. Retirement Plan, IRA Accounts, Life Insurance
   For many types of accounts, you can include Optica Foundation as a beneficiary within the account. If you have any questions or if you would like to notify Optica Foundation of your planned gift intention, please contact Cara Green. 

3. Optica Foundation may also receive the following types of gifts:
   Real Estate
   Charitable Remainder Trusts
   Charitable Lead Trusts
   Pooled Income Funds 

Please consult with your tax advisor and/or lawyer to determine which planned gift strategy is best for you.

Have you already included us in your estate plan?
