I met Prof. Anna Consortini at the University of Florence as her student at the Specialization School in Optics, at the National Institute of Optics, Florence, Italy. Our forty-year long relationship led me to appreciate her skills as a teacher and then as a colleague in the course of Mathematical Methods for Optics which we led together up to a few years ago. Anna Consortini received the Robert E. Hopkins Leadership Award 2018 from OSA.
