I was very fortunate to have Luiz as my masters' advisor and to follow many of his lectures. His style of clear thinking, his way of going through elaborate calculations and, when finished, show how we could have "guessed" the answer from the beginning, were always truly inspirational. He has been a mentor for many in the scientific community in Brazil. May he continue to inspire us!
