My Senior year in high school, I was the only girl in AP Chemistry. AP Chemistry usually had all boys, and it was like a fraternity. Some of the boys were very unwelcoming. Mr. O'Day supported and encouraged my interest in Chemistry and science. As a result, another girl a year behind me also took AP Chemistry as a Senior. I went on to earn my A.B. in Biochemistry and my M.S. and Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry. I will always be grateful to Mr. O'Day for his early encouragement and support.
