I am honored that Dr. Arlene Maclin has mentored me. She is the first female African American to earn a PhD in Physics from Howard University. She once told me that she attended a segregated elementary school. I marvel at her accomplishments. Her joyful heart and authentic connection with her students set her apart. I'm inspired to face my own times of self-doubt with more grace and if I can muster it even a sense of humor. Nobody makes me laugh like her; she invented the "mac attack".
