Colin is an internationally appreciated teacher, researcher, mentor, innovator and a true character. He has an extraordinarily deep insight into physical optics and microscopy. Despite having already "retired" several times he continues to travel, present and to publish at the highest level. I always know, when I meet him, that I will walk away having learnt something new. I can only aspire to his academic rigor, unbounded energy and enthusiasm for all things optics.
