I would like to honour my PhD advisor Joachim Burgdörfer, who has not only taught me how science works, but who has always been a shining example for what it means to be fully dedicated to the scientific enterprise. The same high standards that Joachim applies to doing research, he also applies to writing papers, giving talks and – as I could witness in many cheerful lunch discussions – to forming an outside-the-box view on all things (including life outside the ivory tower). Thank you, Joachim!
