Peter K. Runge worked at Bell Laboratories for much of his career. His most notable publication was the book, Undersea Lightwave Communications. Runge received the 1985 Joseph Fraunhofer Award “for contributions to the design of optical fiber connectors and the development of an undersea lightwave system.” He was elected a Fellow in 1988.
