Janice A. Hudgings
Janice A. Hudgings is the Seele W. Mudd Professor of Physics at Pomona College, USA, and is a strong proponent of undergraduate education.
She has published more than 30 articles in scholarly journals, many of which are coauthored with undergraduate students. In 2007, Hudgings and her collaborators founded the startup company Alenas Imaging to commercialize the thermal imaging technology developed in her laboratory.
She earned a BA in Mathematics and a BS in Engineering with distinction from Swarthmore College, USA. As a Rhodes Scholar, she studied at Oxford University, UK, before receiving a MSc in Mathematics. She earned a PhD in electrical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, USA in 1999.
In addition to the Esther Hoffman Beller Medal, Hudgins has won the CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation. She is also a Fellow of the Society. Hudgings currently serves as the Chair of the Beller Medal Committee.
